Shingirirai Women

Shingirirai Women documented more than 600 orphans in their community and provided vital information to other local service organizations. Shingirirai now operates two Early Learning Centers (ELCs) for 70 children aged 3 to 7 years and provides educational and emotional stimulation in the midst of the HIV/AIDS crisis. They further support children by providing feeding, counseling and referral services for medical care.

In 2005, Shingirirai Women reached out to a second group of women and vulnerable teenage girls in the neighboring community of Tafara.  They ran their first of three peer education workshop for them in late 2005.

In 2006, House Of Stone committed to funding the development of two new Early Learning Centers in Tafara that will accommodate 120 children.  House Of Stone funding will also be utilized to train 50 girls in early childhood education as part of a young girl development project.
