Kutuma Day School

Moharimet School Elementary School in Madbury, NH collected 59,387 pennies during their 2007 "Penny Day" and donated all money to House of Stone. This donation made the donation of 448 books to Kutuma Day School possible.

The school is 60 years old and has 742 children (30% orphaned) and 22 teachers (half male/half female). In late March 2007, even the director of the regional school district, Mr Mhuma, was present for the celebration of the receipt of the donation of 448 books (in 7 subjects), and the opening of a Kapnek-funded preschool on the school grounds. After tea and cake, the books were welcomed with speeches by teachers and students, followed by much drumming and dancing, the whole community was present for the occasion.

The school is in the Zvimba district, west of Harare, and has a total of 32,000 students (including 19,000 primary school students). Herz HD is paying the school fees for 1,500 students in this district. All preschools funded by House of Stone are in the same district.
